After the long display of royal wealth, Xerxes hosts a seven-day banquet in the enclosed palace garden for all the people of Susa, from the least to the greatest. The garden is filled with white and blue linen hangings, marble pillars, silver rings, purple cords, golden and silver couches, mosaic pavements, and abundant royal wine served in unique golden goblets, creating a scene of extravagant luxury and indulgence.
