Description
The scene is divided between shadow and illumination. On one side, a narrow alley suggests the hidden works of darkness: greed, impurity, deception, and secretive behavior, shown symbolically through clenched hands, discarded wine cups, and whispering figures in deep shadow. On the other side, bright light breaks in as a sleeper rises from the ground, awakening into Christ’s radiance. The light exposes what was hidden and transforms the awakened person into someone who now reflects that same light.
