Ecclesiastes 5 (vv. 8-9)

In a rural district, poor laborers stand burdened while officials collect from the land above them in a visible chain of authority. A lower official watches the peasants, a higher official oversees him, and in the distance the king’s estate or royal presence suggests that even the highest powers profit from the fields. The image reveals a system where justice is denied and the produce of the land flows upward through layers of control, leaving the vulnerable exposed.

한 지방의 농촌에서 가난한 일꾼들이 무거운 짐을 진 채 서 있고, 그들 위로는 땅의 소출을 거두어 가는 관리들의 권력 사슬이 보인다. 하급 관리가 농민들을 감시하고, 그 위에는 더 높은 관리가 있으며, 멀리 보이는 왕의 영지나 왕권의 상징은 가장 높은 권력자조차 들판의 이익을 취하고 있음을 암시한다. 이 장면은 정의가 거부되고, 땅의 열매가 권력의 여러 층을 따라 위로 흘러가며, 약한 자들만 그대로 노출되는 체제를 드러낸다.
