Ecclesiastes 3 (vv. 18-22)

In a stark wilderness edge, a human funeral and the still form of an animal are placed within the same visual world, underscoring the shared mortality of all flesh. A group of mourners lowers a wrapped body toward the earth, while nearby an animal lies motionless on the ground, watched by a shepherd. The wind moves dust across the scene, and the horizon stretches into uncertainty. Yet in the far distance, a worker continues his task in a field, suggesting that amid unanswered questions about spirit and destiny, people are still called to receive and continue their portion in life.

황량한 들판 가장자리에서 인간의 장례와 죽은 짐승이 같은 시야 안에 놓여, 모든 육체가 공유하는 죽음을 강조한다. 애도하는 이들이 천으로 감싼 시신을 땅으로 내리고 있고, 가까운 곳에는 한 목자가 지켜보는 가운데 짐승 한 마리가 움직임 없이 누워 있다. 바람은 먼지를 일으키며 장면 전체를 스치고, 지평선은 불확실함 속으로 길게 뻗어 있다. 그러나 멀리서는 한 일꾼이 여전히 밭일을 계속하고 있어, 영혼과 운명에 대한 답 없는 질문들 속에서도 사람은 자기 몫의 삶을 받아 살아가야 함을 암시한다.
