Ecclesiastes 10 (vv. 5-7)

Society appears disordered under a ruler’s error: foolish men are elevated to seats of power while the truly worthy are brought low. The inversion becomes unforgettable as slaves ride proudly on horseback through the city gate while princes, dressed for nobility, walk on foot like servants in the dust.

통치자의 잘못으로 사회 질서가 뒤틀린 모습이 펼쳐진다. 어리석은 자들이 높은 자리에 앉고, 참으로 합당한 이들은 낮은 자리에 떨어진다. 그 전도된 현실은 성문을 통과하는 행렬에서 선명해진다. 종들은 말을 타고 의기양양하게 지나가고, 귀족의 옷차림을 한 왕자들은 먼지 속을 종처럼 걸어간다.
