Description
The giving of the commandments is recalled as the LORD’s voice thunders from the mountain out of fire, cloud, and deep darkness. Israel stands at a distance in awe as the divine words establish exclusive worship, holiness, truth, rest, honor, and justice. The climax is the writing of the commandments on two stone tablets, marking the covenant in enduring form.
