Deuteronomy 5 (vv. 1-5)

Moses stands before the assembled tribes of Israel and calls them to hear, learn, and obey the covenant laws. He reminds them that the covenant at Horeb was made with those alive before him, and that the LORD spoke from the fire on the mountain. The people listen in solemn attention while Moses stands as mediator between the fearful nation and the divine presence.
