Deuteronomy 32 (vv. 15-18)

After receiving abundance, Jeshurun becomes complacent, self-satisfied, and rebellious. The people who were fed by God now turn away from their Maker and pursue foreign gods, setting up detestable idols and offering sacrifices to powers that are not truly divine. The tragedy of the scene lies in the contrast between divine fatherly care and human ingratitude.

풍요를 받은 뒤 여수룬은 안일해지고 자기만족에 빠져 반역하게 된다. 하나님께 먹임을 받은 백성은 이제 자신을 지으신 분을 버리고 이방 신들을 따르며, 가증한 우상들을 세우고 참 신이 아닌 존재들에게 제사를 드린다. 이 장면의 비극은 아버지처럼 돌보신 하나님의 사랑과 인간의 배은망덕이 극명하게 대비된다는 데 있다.
