Deuteronomy 31 (vv. 1-6)

An aged Moses stands before the assembled tribes of Israel, publicly declaring that he is no longer able to lead them and that he will not cross the Jordan. He directs their attention away from himself and toward the LORD, who will go before them and give them victory. The scene captures both the sorrow of farewell and the strength of Moses' command: Israel must be strong and courageous because God will never leave nor forsake them.
