Description

Moses commands the tribes who have received land east of the Jordan that their fighting men must cross over armed before their fellow Israelites until the rest also receive their inheritance. Their families, children, and livestock may remain behind in the towns already given to them. Moses also strengthens Joshua, reminding him that the LORD who defeated the two kings will fight for Israel again. The scene holds together duty, sacrifice, and encouragement before the next stage of conquest.
