Deuteronomy 27 (vv. 4-8)

After crossing into the land, the people set up the great stones on Mount Ebal and coat them with plaster so the law can be written clearly upon them. Nearby they build an altar to the LORD from untouched fieldstones, without shaping them with iron tools, and prepare offerings there. The scene combines inscription, worship, and covenant memory in one sacred act.

백성은 땅에 들어온 뒤 에발산에 큰 돌들을 세우고 그 위에 회반죽을 발라 율법을 분명하게 기록할 수 있게 한다. 그 곁에서는 쇠 연장으로 다듬지 않은 들돌로 여호와의 제단을 쌓고 제사를 준비한다. 이 장면은 기록, 예배, 언약의 기억이 하나의 거룩한 행위로 결합된 모습을 보여 준다.
