Deuteronomy 18 (vv. 15-19)

This scene recalls Horeb and the promise that God will raise up a prophet from among Israel. The people once trembled before the divine fire and asked not to hear God’s overwhelming voice directly. Now the promise is given that a human prophet will speak God’s words to them. The image should combine memory and promise: Moses before the assembly, the mountain blazing with holy fire and cloud, while the people recoil in awe, and a sense of future hope rests over the scene as God’s word is entrusted to a coming prophet.

이 장면은 호렙의 사건과 하나님께서 이스라엘 가운데서 한 선지자를 일으키시겠다는 약속을 떠올리게 한다. 백성은 한때 하나님의 불 같은 임재 앞에서 떨며, 그 압도적인 음성을 직접 듣지 않게 해 달라고 요청했다. 이제 하나님은 사람인 선지자를 통해 자신의 말씀을 전하시겠다고 약속하신다. 이 이미지는 기억과 약속을 함께 담아야 한다. 모세가 회중 앞에 서 있고, 산은 거룩한 불과 구름으로 타오르며, 백성은 경외심 속에 물러선다. 동시에 장차 올 선지자에게 하나님의 말씀이 맡겨질 것이라는 미래의 소망이 장면 위에 드리워져야 한다.
