Deuteronomy 18 (vv. 1-5)

This scene centers on the unique calling of the Levites. While the other tribes possess land and produce, the priests stand at the sanctuary and receive their portion from the offerings and firstfruits of the people. The image should emphasize that their true inheritance is not fields or vineyards, but the privilege of ministering before the LORD. Worshipers bring grain, wine, oil, wool, and sacrificial portions, while the priests, set apart in sacred service, stand in dignity and dependence on God’s provision.
