Description
Moses descends the mountain and places the newly written tablets into the ark as the LORD commanded. This act preserves the covenant at the heart of Israel’s life. The scene also anticipates the Levites, set apart to carry the ark, minister before the LORD, and bear the sacred responsibility of worship without territorial inheritance, for the LORD himself is their inheritance.
