Daniel 5 (vv. 13-28)

Daniel is brought before Belshazzar and refuses the king’s gifts, choosing instead to speak the truth. He recounts how the Most High humbled Nebuchadnezzar for his pride and then confronts Belshazzar for knowingly exalting himself against the Lord of heaven by defiling the temple vessels. Daniel then reads the inscription—Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin—and declares that God has numbered Belshazzar’s days, weighed him and found him wanting, and divided his kingdom for the Medes and Persians. The scene is a dramatic courtroom moment of moral courage and divine verdict.
