Daniel 5 (vv. 1-4)

King Belshazzar hosts a magnificent banquet for a thousand nobles in the royal palace. In arrogant celebration, he orders the gold and silver vessels taken from the temple in Jerusalem to be brought in. The king, his nobles, wives, and concubines drink wine from these sacred goblets while praising idols made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone. The scene captures luxury, excess, and spiritual defiance at the height of Babylonian pride.
