Daniel 2 (vv. 31-49)

Daniel recounts the dream of the enormous statue with its head of gold, chest of silver, bronze middle, iron legs, and feet mixed with iron and clay, then describes the stone cut without human hands that shatters it and becomes a mountain filling the earth. He explains the succession of kingdoms and the everlasting kingdom established by the God of heaven. Overwhelmed by the truth of the revelation, Nebuchadnezzar falls before Daniel, honors him, acknowledges Daniel’s God as revealer of mysteries, and elevates Daniel and his companions to high office.

다니엘은 금 머리, 은 가슴과 팔, 놋 배와 넓적다리, 철 다리, 철과 진흙이 섞인 발을 가진 거대한 신상의 꿈을 말하고, 사람의 손으로 하지 않은 돌이 그것을 쳐서 부수고 온 땅에 가득한 산이 되는 장면을 설명한다. 이어 여러 왕국의 계승과 하늘의 하나님께서 세우실 영원한 나라를 해석한다. 이 계시의 진실 앞에 압도된 느부갓네살은 다니엘 앞에 엎드려 경의를 표하고, 다니엘의 하나님을 신비를 밝히시는 분으로 인정하며, 다니엘과 그의 친구들을 높은 자리에 세운다.
