Nebuchadnezzar lies awake in his royal chamber after a disturbing dream, his mind agitated and his rest broken. The grandeur of Babylon surrounds him, yet he appears small beneath the weight of an unseen mystery. Servants and guards stand at a distance as the king prepares to summon the court sages to uncover what has troubled his spirit.

느부갓네살은 불길한 꿈을 꾼 뒤 왕궁 침실에서 잠을 이루지 못한 채 뒤척인다. 바빌론의 화려함이 그를 둘러싸고 있지만, 보이지 않는 신비의 무게 앞에서 그는 오히려 작아 보인다. 신하들과 경비병들이 멀찍이 서 있는 가운데, 왕은 자신의 영혼을 뒤흔든 일을 밝히기 위해 궁정의 지혜자들을 부를 준비를 한다.
