Description
Ashpenaz, chief of the royal officials, selects promising young men from the royal family and nobility of Judah. Among them stand Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, youthful yet dignified, as they are brought into the palace system of Babylon. Their education begins, and with it comes the first sign of assimilation: they are given new Babylonian names.
