Description
Those who long for the day of the LORD are warned that it will be darkness, not light, like escaping one danger only to meet another. At the same time, God rejects festivals, sacrifices, songs, and harps that are offered by an unjust people. In contrast to hollow ritual, the true divine desire is that justice roll like a river and righteousness like an unfailing stream. This scene should move from oppressive darkness and rejected worship to a striking vision of living justice flowing through the land.
