Amos 3 (vv. 11-12)

The announced invasion is portrayed through aftermath rather than battle. A shepherd stands in a bleak field holding the pitiful remains rescued from a lion’s mouth—two leg bones and a piece of an ear—while nearby the ruined luxury of Samaria is suggested by broken bed furnishings and torn couch fabric. The image conveys how little will remain after judgment: survival will be fragmentary, humiliating, and stripped of all former security.

선포된 침략은 전투 장면이 아니라 그 여파를 통해 묘사된다. 한 목자가 황량한 들판에 서서 사자의 입에서 겨우 건져 낸 초라한 흔적, 곧 두 다리뼈와 귀 한 조각을 들고 있다. 그 곁에는 부서진 침상 장식과 찢어진 소파 천이 놓여 있어 사마리아의 사치가 무너졌음을 암시한다. 이 장면은 심판 후에 얼마나 적은 것만 남게 될지를 보여 준다. 남는 것은 파편뿐이며, 수치스럽고, 이전의 안전은 모두 벗겨진다.
