Amos 1 (vv. 11-15)

The final and most intense scene gathers the judgments on Edom and Ammon into a single climactic image centered on Rabbah. Edom's relentless sword and Ammon's merciless violence are suggested through dark military banners, abandoned weapons, and grieving silence rather than graphic action. Over Rabbah, war cries seem to merge with a stormy sky as violent winds drive flames against the city walls; the king and his officials are led away into exile, showing that unchecked fury ends in ruin and humiliation.
