Amos 1 (vv. 1-2)

Amos, a shepherd from Tekoa, stands in the rugged Judean landscape as he receives a vision concerning Israel. The scene joins earth and heaven: the ordinary life of a shepherd is interrupted by the overwhelming voice of the LORD, roaring from Zion and thundering from Jerusalem. Around him, the pastures begin to dry and the distant heights of Carmel appear withered, signaling that divine judgment is moving across the land.
