Acts 4 (vv. 13-18)

The council is struck by the courage of Peter and John, recognizing them as ordinary, unschooled men, yet unable to dismiss their authority. Beside them stands the man who had been healed, visibly whole and steady on his feet, an undeniable living testimony. The leaders withdraw to confer in frustration, admitting that the sign is known throughout Jerusalem and cannot be denied. Their only strategy is to suppress the message by commanding the apostles not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.
