Description
At daylight the crew sees an unfamiliar bay with a sandy beach and makes a final attempt to run the ship ashore. After cutting loose the anchors and hoisting the foresail, the vessel strikes a sandbar; the bow sticks fast while the stern is shattered by pounding surf. Though the soldiers consider killing the prisoners, Julius intervenes to save Paul, and everyone reaches land safely by swimming or clinging to broken planks.
