Acts 22 (vv. 1-5)

Paul stands before the people in Jerusalem and begins his defense with respectful words, calling them brothers and fathers. When the crowd hears him speak in Aramaic, a hush falls over them. He recounts his Jewish heritage, his education under Gamaliel, and his former zeal in persecuting followers of the Way, even carrying letters from the high priest to arrest believers in Damascus.
