Description
As the mob tries to kill Paul, the Roman commander rushes in with soldiers, arrests him, and orders him bound with two chains. Unable to determine the truth because of the shouting, the commander has Paul carried up the barracks steps while the crowd cries, 'Get rid of him!' Then, in a striking reversal, Paul speaks to the commander in Greek, receives permission to address the people, and stands on the steps, raising his hand for silence before speaking in Aramaic.
