Acts 12 (vv. 1-5)

King Herod launches a violent campaign against the church, arresting believers to win political favor. James, the brother of John, is executed, and when Herod sees public approval, he has Peter seized during the Festival of Unleavened Bread and placed under heavy guard. In sharp contrast to the king’s force, the church responds not with weapons but with intense, united prayer for Peter.
