2 Samuel 4 (vv. 5-7)

Rekab and Baanah arrive at Ish-Bosheth’s house during the heat of the day while he rests at noon. Pretending to come for grain, they slip into the inner part of the house and betray the defenseless king in his own bedroom. Rather than dwelling on gore, the scene emphasizes stealth, treachery, and the horror of a ruler struck down in the false safety of his home; afterward the brothers depart into the night carrying proof of their crime.
