Description
David ascends the Mount of Olives barefoot, his head covered, weeping along with all the people who follow him. When he learns that Ahithophel has joined the conspiracy, he prays that the counselor’s wisdom will be turned into foolishness. At the summit, where people once worshiped God, Hushai meets him with torn robe and dust on his head. There David sends Hushai back into Jerusalem as a loyal friend and secret counter-counselor, just as Absalom enters the city below.

다윗은 맨발로 머리를 가린 채 감람산을 오르며 울고, 그를 따르는 백성도 함께 울며 올라간다. 그때 아히도벨이 반역에 가담했다는 소식을 듣고, 다윗은 그의 계략이 어리석게 되게 해 달라고 기도한다. 예배하던 산 정상에서 옷을 찢고 머리에 티끌을 뒤집어쓴 후새가 그를 맞이한다. 다윗은 후새를 예루살렘으로 돌려보내 충성된 친구이자 비밀리에 아히도벨의 계략을 꺾을 자로 세우고, 그 아래로는 압살롬이 성에 들어오고 있다.
