2 Samuel 13 (vv. 23-29)

Two years later, Absalom hosts a festive sheepshearing celebration at Baal Hazor and persuades David to let Amnon attend. Beneath the music, wine, and open-country abundance lies a hidden command: when Amnon’s heart is merry with drink, Absalom’s servants are to strike him down. The scene captures the terrible reversal of a royal feast into an act of vengeance, with the other king’s sons fleeing in panic on their mules.

두 해 뒤 압살롬은 바알 하솔에서 양털 깎는 큰 잔치를 베풀고, 다윗을 설득해 암논이 그 자리에 오게 한다. 음악과 포도주, 들판의 풍요로움 아래에는 은밀한 명령이 숨겨져 있다. 암논이 술로 마음이 풀어졌을 때 압살롬의 종들이 그를 치라는 것이다. 이 장면은 왕자들의 잔치가 복수의 현장으로 뒤바뀌고, 다른 왕자들이 노새를 타고 공포 속에 달아나는 비극적 전환을 보여 준다.
