2 Samuel 13 (vv. 6-10)

At David’s command, Tamar comes to Amnon’s house in innocence and duty. She kneads dough, shapes special bread, and bakes it in his sight while he reclines as though ill. The domestic tenderness of the moment is overshadowed by the deceit beneath it, especially when Amnon dismisses the attendants and asks that the food be brought into his inner chamber.

다윗의 명령에 따라 다말은 순전한 마음과 의무감으로 암논의 집에 온다. 그녀는 반죽을 하고 특별한 떡을 빚어 암논이 보는 앞에서 굽는다. 암논은 병든 사람처럼 누워 있지만, 이 평범하고 따뜻해야 할 장면은 그 밑에 숨겨진 속임수로 인해 불길하게 변한다. 특히 암논이 시종들을 모두 내보내고 음식을 안방으로 가져오라고 말하면서 긴장은 더욱 짙어진다.
