2 Samuel 13 (vv. 1-5)

Amnon, son of David, wastes away under a forbidden desire for his half-sister Tamar. Pale and restless in his chamber, he is questioned by the shrewd Jonadab, who draws out the truth and then devises a deceitful plan: Amnon should pretend to be sick and ask for Tamar to prepare food before him. The scene captures the beginning of the tragedy, where inward corruption is joined to calculated manipulation.

다윗의 아들 암논은 이복누이 다말을 향한 금지된 욕망 때문에 쇠약해져 간다. 그의 방에서 창백하고 불안한 모습으로 누워 있는 암논에게 간교한 요나답이 다가와 이유를 묻고, 마침내 진실을 알아낸 뒤 속임수의 계획을 제안한다. 암논이 병든 척하며 다말이 와서 자기 앞에서 음식을 만들게 하라는 것이다. 이 장면은 내면의 타락이 교활한 조언과 결합되며 비극이 시작되는 순간을 보여 준다.
