Description
As Jehu enters Jezreel, Jezebel prepares herself with painted eyes and arranged hair and looks down from an upper window of the palace. She confronts Jehu with defiant words, but he calls upward, asking who is on his side. Two or three eunuchs appear at the window, and at Jehu’s command they cast her down. The scene is one of proud resistance collapsing in a single irreversible moment.
