Description
In Damascus, the sick king Ben-Hadad sends Hazael with an extravagant gift to consult Elisha. As Hazael stands before him, Elisha announces that the king will recover yet surely die, then fixes his gaze on Hazael until he is ashamed. Overcome with grief, Elisha weeps because he foresees the suffering Hazael will bring upon Israel when he becomes king.
