2 Kings 7 (vv. 12-15)

Awakened in the night, the king suspects a trap and explains his fear to his officers. Yet one servant urges a cautious investigation, and two chariots are sent out to follow the trail toward the Jordan. Along the road, the scouts find clothing and equipment strewn everywhere, clear evidence of the Arameans’ panicked flight.

밤중에 깨어난 왕은 이것이 함정일지 모른다고 의심하며 신하들에게 자신의 생각을 말한다. 그러나 한 신하는 조심스럽게라도 확인해 보자고 제안하고, 결국 두 대의 병거가 요단 쪽으로 추격하러 나간다. 길을 따라가던 정탐꾼들은 곳곳에 버려진 옷과 장비를 발견하고, 이것이 아람 군대가 공포 속에 달아났다는 분명한 증거임을 알게 된다.
