2 Kings 6 (vv. 24-33)

The chapter darkens as Ben-Hadad besieges Samaria and famine devastates the city. On the wall, a woman cries to the king for help and recounts an unspeakable act born of starvation. The king tears his robes in grief and horror, revealing sackcloth beneath, a sign of inner anguish. Yet his despair turns to rage against Elisha. Meanwhile, Elisha sits with the elders and calmly foretells the arrival of the king’s messenger, exposing the moral and political collapse of the nation under pressure.

이 장은 벤하닷이 사마리아를 포위하고 극심한 기근이 성을 삼키면서 어두워진다. 성벽 위에서 한 여인이 왕에게 도움을 구하며, 굶주림이 낳은 차마 입에 담기 힘든 일을 이야기한다. 왕은 슬픔과 공포 속에서 옷을 찢고, 그 아래 입고 있던 굵은 베옷이 드러난다. 이는 그의 내면의 고통을 보여 준다. 그러나 그의 절망은 곧 엘리사를 향한 분노로 바뀐다. 한편 엘리사는 장로들과 함께 앉아 왕의 사자가 올 것을 침착하게 예고하며, 압박 속에서 무너져 가는 나라의 도덕적·정치적 붕괴를 드러낸다.
