2 Kings 4 (vv. 38-44)

During famine at Gilgal, the company of the prophets gathers around Elisha. A large pot of stew is prepared, but wild gourds make it poisonous, and the men cry out that there is death in the pot. Elisha adds flour, and the stew becomes harmless. Then a man arrives with twenty barley loaves and fresh grain; though the servant doubts it will be enough for a hundred men, Elisha commands it to be given to the people, and they eat with food left over. This scene combines communal danger, prophetic authority, and abundant provision in a time of scarcity.
