2 Kings 24 (vv. 14-20)

Jerusalem’s officers, warriors, skilled workers, and nobles are led away into exile, while only the poorest remain in the land. In the aftermath, Mattaniah is placed on the throne and renamed Zedekiah by Babylon. The scene juxtaposes two realities: a sorrowful procession of captives leaving the city and, behind it, a fragile new king assuming power under foreign control, with the shadow of future rebellion already hanging over him.

예루살렘의 고관들과 용사들, 기술자들, 귀족들이 포로로 끌려가고, 가장 가난한 자들만 그 땅에 남는다. 그 뒤에 맛다니야가 왕위에 오르고 바벨론에 의해 시드기야라는 이름을 받는다. 이 장면은 두 현실을 나란히 보여 준다. 성을 떠나는 슬픈 포로 행렬과 그 뒤에서 외세의 지배 아래 위태롭게 권좌에 오르는 새 왕의 모습이다. 그리고 그의 위에는 장차 일어날 반역의 그림자가 드리워져 있다.
