Description
Josiah desecrates Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom so it can no longer be used for child sacrifice to Molek. He also removes the horses dedicated to the sun from the temple precincts and burns the chariots associated with sun worship. Altars built by former kings on rooftops and in temple courts are torn down, smashed, and their rubble cast into the Kidron Valley, signaling the end of royal-sponsored apostasy.
