Description
A conspiracy rises against Amaziah in Jerusalem, and though he flees to Lachish, he is killed there. His body is brought back by horse to Jerusalem and buried in the City of David, after which Azariah is made king. The chapter then widens to Jeroboam II of Israel, whose reign restores borders and brings relief to a suffering people according to the word spoken through Jonah. This final scene should unite mortality, succession, and national restoration under divine providence.
