2 Kings 13 (vv. 14-17)

As Elisha lies sick with the illness that will end his life, King Jehoash comes to him in tears, crying out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” Elisha instructs the king to take up a bow and arrows, then places his own hands over the king’s hands. At the open east window, the prophet directs him to shoot, declaring it to be the LORD’s arrow of victory over Aram. The scene is intimate yet charged with prophetic power, joining royal fear, prophetic authority, and divine promise.

죽음에 이르게 하는 병으로 누워 있는 엘리사를 찾아 이스라엘 왕 여호아스가 눈물로 나아와 “내 아버지여, 내 아버지여, 이스라엘의 병거와 마병이여!”라고 부르짖는다. 엘리사는 왕에게 활과 화살을 들게 한 뒤 자신의 손을 왕의 손 위에 얹는다. 동쪽 창문이 열린 자리에서 그는 화살을 쏘게 하며, 그것이 아람을 향한 여호와의 승리의 화살이라고 선포한다. 이 장면은 왕의 두려움과 선지자의 권위, 그리고 하나님의 약속이 한데 모인 친밀하면서도 강렬한 순간이다.
