2 Corinthians 3 (vv. 12-15)

Paul’s explanation of veiled glory is portrayed through Moses after encountering divine glory. Moses stands before the people of Israel with a veil covering his face, while traces of fading radiance still escape around him. The Israelites stand at a cautious distance, uncertain and unable to gaze steadily, symbolizing not only the old covenant’s fading splendor but also the dullness of heart that remains when that covenant is read without Christ.

바울이 설명하는 가려진 영광은 하나님의 영광을 경험한 후의 모세를 통해 묘사된다. 모세는 얼굴을 휘장으로 가린 채 이스라엘 백성 앞에 서 있고, 사라져 가는 광채의 흔적이 그의 주변으로 아직 새어 나온다. 이스라엘 백성은 조심스러운 거리를 두고 서서 똑바로 바라보지 못하는데, 이는 옛 언약의 사라져 가는 영광뿐 아니라 그 언약이 그리스도 없이 읽힐 때 여전히 남아 있는 마음의 둔함을 상징한다.
