Solomon and all the people dedicate the temple through an extraordinary outpouring of sacrifices. The bronze altar cannot contain all that is being offered, so Solomon consecrates the middle of the courtyard as additional sacred space. Priests stand in ordered service while smoke rises across the temple courts, showing the scale of national devotion and the solemnity of consecration.
