Description
After turning away from the LORD, Amaziah becomes the target of conspiracy in Jerusalem and flees to Lachish. There, the plot catches up with him and he is killed. The final image is mournful rather than graphic: the king's body is brought back by horse to the City of Judah for burial with his ancestors. The scene closes his story with the sadness of wasted beginnings and a reign undone by spiritual decline.
