Description
Jehoiada gives precise instructions for guarding the temple, palace, and gates, assigning priests and Levites to their positions. The men obey exactly, including both those coming on duty and those going off duty, creating an unusually full and disciplined defense. The commanders receive David’s preserved spears and shields from the temple, and armed men spread from the south side to the north side of the temple, forming a living wall around the king.
