2 Chronicles 23 (vv. 1-3)

In the seventh year, Jehoiada the priest acts decisively and gathers the commanders, Levites, and family leaders from throughout Judah. In Jerusalem, within the sacred setting of the temple precincts, the whole assembly makes a covenant around the hidden royal heir. Jehoiada declares that the king’s son must reign according to the LORD’s promise to David’s line, turning a secret resistance into a holy and political commitment.

일곱째 해에 제사장 여호야다는 단호하게 행동하여 유다 전역의 백부장들과 레위인들, 그리고 각 가문의 지도자들을 불러 모은다. 예루살렘에 이르러 성전 뜰의 거룩한 공간에서 온 회중은 숨겨져 있던 왕의 후계자를 중심으로 언약을 맺는다. 여호야다는 다윗의 자손에 대한 여호와의 약속대로 왕의 아들이 반드시 왕이 되어야 한다고 선언하며, 은밀한 저항을 거룩하고 정치적인 결단으로 바꾼다.
