2 Chronicles 20 (vv. 5-13)

Jehoshaphat stands in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in front of the temple’s new courtyard and lifts a public prayer to the God of their ancestors. He recalls God's power, the gift of the land, and the sanctuary built for the divine Name, then confesses Judah’s helplessness before the invading army: 'We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.' Around him stand not only warriors and elders, but entire families—men, women, children, and little ones—waiting before the LORD in complete dependence.

여호사밧은 여호와의 성전 새 뜰 앞에서 유다와 예루살렘 회중 가운데 서서 조상들의 하나님께 공개적으로 기도한다. 그는 하나님의 능력과 주신 땅, 그리고 하나님의 이름을 위해 세운 성전을 상기시킨 뒤, 침략군 앞에서 유다가 무력함을 고백한다. '우리는 어떻게 할 줄 알지 못하오나 우리의 눈이 주만 바라보나이다.' 그의 주변에는 군사들과 장로들뿐 아니라 남자와 여자와 어린아이들까지 온 가족이 여호와 앞에 서서 전적으로 의지하고 있다.
