2 Chronicles 19 (vv. 1-3)

Jehoshaphat returns safely to his royal palace in Jerusalem after battle, but his homecoming is interrupted by Jehu son of Hanani, a seer who comes out to confront him. Before the city or palace entrance, Jehu delivers a bold prophetic rebuke, asking why the king helped the wicked and loved those who hate the LORD. The moment is tense yet restrained: Jehoshaphat stands as a powerful ruler, but he is forced into humility before the word of God. At the same time, Jehu acknowledges the good still found in him, noting that he removed the Asherah poles and set his heart on seeking God.

여호사밧은 전쟁에서 무사히 돌아와 예루살렘 왕궁에 이르지만, 그의 귀환은 하나니의 아들 선견자 예후의 책망으로 맞이된다. 성문이나 왕궁 입구 앞에서 예후는 담대하게 왕을 향해, 어찌하여 왕이 악인을 돕고 여호와를 미워하는 자들을 사랑했느냐고 선포한다. 이 장면은 긴장감이 가득하지만 절제되어 있다. 강력한 통치자인 여호사밧은 하나님의 말씀 앞에서 겸손해질 수밖에 없다. 동시에 예후는 그 안에 남아 있는 선한 점도 인정하며, 그가 아세라 목상들을 제거하고 하나님을 찾는 데 마음을 두었다고 말한다.
