Description
Zedekiah steps forward and strikes Micaiah in the face, mocking his claim to have heard the true Spirit of the LORD. Micaiah does not retreat but foretells that Zedekiah will one day hide in fear, and Ahab orders the prophet to be returned to prison on bread and water until the king comes back safely. The prophet’s final public warning hangs over the court: if Ahab returns safely, then the LORD has not spoken through him.
